Delete your Ryze account
You can close your account and delete its data at any time. Here's how, and exactly what goes.
In the app (fastest)
- Open Ryze and go to the Me tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
- Ryze lists what will be deleted and offers to save a copy of your journal first. Tap Continue to delete.
- Tap Delete everything, for good.
Your account and its data are deleted from our servers straight away, and your phone signs out and forgets your key.
Want a copy first? Me → Take it with you saves your journal as Markdown, or everything as JSON.
By email
If you can't use the app (for example, you've lost your phone and your recovery code), email support@maitreyatools.com:
- Send it from the email address you sign in to Ryze with, so we know the request is yours.
- Use the subject Delete my Ryze account, and include your @handle if you have one.
We'll reply to confirm, then delete the account and all its data within 7 days of confirming. We'll email you when it's done.
What's deleted
- Everything you wrote: journal pages, fears, and letters, including letters still on their way to friends.
- Letters friends sent you, and your notes on them.
- Polls you asked (for everyone in them) and your votes and reasons in other polls.
- Your friendships, friend requests, blocks and reports.
- Your profile: name, @handle, email address and sign-in details.
- Your journal question sets, including public ones.
- Your notification settings and your phones' push tokens.
- Your encrypted key backup. In-app deletion also removes your key from that phone.
What isn't
- If a friend wrote a letter to you and also to other people, their letter stays with those other people. Only your copy goes.
- Copies you saved yourself (exports, screenshots) are yours and stay wherever you put them.
- Our hosting provider's backups and logs keep data for a limited time before it's removed from them too.
Deletion can't be undone, by you or by us. Friends aren't told; you simply disappear from their lists.
You can also delete single things without closing your account: journal pages, fears, polls you asked, letters that have arrived (let them go unread), friendships and your question sets.
